Digital Social Care

A recent partnership between the members of Care Provider Alliance, Skills for Care and NHS Digital unveiled a new website named ‘Digital Social Care’ which launched on 27thJune 2019.

Digital Social Care, which has funds extended until March 2021, is a new innovate space run by social care providers to provide advice and digital support for; technology, information sharing between health and local authority partners and data protection to other social care providers.

The new project is working towards a better understanding of digital maturity within the social care sector, which currently is spread over 25,000 services across England with a total of 1.47 million staff members.

In order to measure digital maturity a self-assessment tool, to be used by social care employers will be developed, as well as applying existing IT solutions including, the data security and protection toolkit and NHSmail. To help with the selection of IT suppliers, social care providers will be given a set of core requirements which will be generated by the project.
