At least 337 councils are engaged with 305 shared service arrangements, achieving £263m in efficiency savings, according to a new white paper. The white paper commissioned by Advanced Business Solutions, shows that there is a growing number of public sector organisations exploring the potential of shared services to save money without damaging frontline services.
Dean Dickinson, managing director of Advanced Business Solutions, said: ‘Shared services through merged back-office functions offers organisations huge potential for cost savings, removing the need for each party to make their own individual investments in administrative staff, IT systems and associated floor space. Each year those savings grow exponentially.’
